Tell us about yourself…My mom and I make raggy shaped quilts.
How and when did your business get started? About 11 years ago, my mom retired and we decided to start making blankets and tote bags and selling them at craft shows. We are not currently making anything that we started out making 11 years ago! Everything has evolved.
What is your favorite product in your shop? Tell us how you came up with it. Our shaped raggy quilts are the majority of what we now make and we enjoy making them. They had started out as just a few much bigger quilts. We thought it would be cute to sell a matching smaller version (like the american girls dolls did with matching outfits) They were much smaller than the ones that we currently have. They eventually got a little bigger to the size that we currently sell. And, we started out with only 3 shapes and we now have almost 30 different shapes that we have developed!!
Where do you find your inspiration and creativity? We get a lot of inspiration from our customers. We have made several shapes because we have gotten a request from a customer.
What are your favorite things about being a vendor in a handmade market? Getting feedback from customers and meeting people.
Give us 5 fun facts about you and/or your business 1) My mom first did craft shows in Denver, Co when I was in high school and we worked together then! 2) We both have been sewing since we were 8 years old. 3) I cut out all of the critters (shaped raggy quilts!) and my mom sews them! 4) Between both of us, it takes about 3 1/2 hours to make one critter. 5) everything that we sell now started out as a way to use scraps. We throw very little away!!
