Tell us about yourself: I've been married 30+ years and have raised 2 great kids! I was born in Massachusetts and moved to Indiana when I was high school. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother, all very creative people! I have never NOT had a dog in my life. I am a 25 year cancer survivor. I love, love, love creating art!
How and when did your business get started? I signed up for a painting class 28 years ago and I have never stopped painting. My mom and I organized and participated in several craft shows over the years, including an event held in my family's Old Tobacco Barn for 20 consecutive years. I recently set up a booth full of vintage finds and art in Fortville, Indiana (At Home With Us) plus I teach a few themed creative workshops too.
What is your favorite product in your shop? Tell us how you came up with it….Right now my favorite type of art to create is Mixed Media. This makes each and every piece I create unique in their own way. I like experimenting with different techniques using new products and painting on different services such as wood or canvas' to painting on old rusty fishing tackle boxes to old chippy windows or doors. Each item I make is an original!
Where do you find your inspiration and creativity? I find inspiration in everything around me, from the fabric on a shirt you are wearing to puffy clouds in a bright blue sky. I tend to look at things by looking at the color and texture first. I have taken many workshops and e-courses from different artists all over the world. I love vintage picking and enjoy shopping in a creative booth set up. I also like to art journal, I find it a great way to express myself with color and form.
What are your favorite things about being a vendor in a handmade market? This is my first time attending this event and I am excited to be part of an event that is selling 100% handmade items. I can't wait!
