Tell us about yourself…I am a wife to Josh, and a mommy to Owynn Marie (almost 4) and Waylon Gene (almost 2.) I am a former teacher, turned screen printer. I work from home and put all of my creative energy into creating authentic learning experiences for my kiddos and making hilarious and seriously soft tees!
How and when did your business get started? The idea of Sweet Tees began almost a year ago, but I didn't officially open until July 2016. When I was ordering shirts for my kids' joint birthday party, one was made with vinyl and one was made with water based ink. I fell in LOVE with the way the water based ink felt on the shirt, and started researching screen printing. I practiced for about four months and then opened up shop!
What is your favorite product in your shop? Tell us how you came up with it. It's hard to pick just one, but my biggest seller is the ORIGINAL "Mommin' like a Mother" tee. I have no clue how I came up with it, sassy saying just come to me and I tweak them until they look just right on a shirt. This is the shirt that turned my hobby into a legitimate small business.
Where do you find your inspiration and creativity? My family and our everyday life together.
What are your favorite things about being a vendor in a handmade market? I love that it gives the community an opportunity to support local handmade businesses. Networking with other shops is also a favorite. I have my eye on quite a few goodies I plan to buy myself on Saturday.
Give us 5 fun facts about you and/or your business 1.) The first time I screen printed, I used an embroidery hoop and an old curtain. 2.) My hubby is also a maker. He builds custom houses, then comes home and builds anything and everything I ask him to. (Including everything in my booth space.) 3.) Sleep is my love language ;) 4.) I don't eat fruits or vegetables (unless you count wine.) 5.) This is my first jury selected market and I am SO excited to share my tees with you!
